Trusted Fuse Box Installations & Consumer Unit Upgrades
Based in Clacton-on-Sea, Samsons Electrical Services Ltd is a trusted local electrical contractor providing professional fuse box installations and consumer unit upgrades for homeowners, landlords and businesses throughout Clacton, Colchester and the wider Essex area. Our experienced, NAPIT-approved electricians are committed to delivering safe, reliable and fully compliant electrical installations that protect your property while ensuring your electrical system is ready for the demands of modern living.
Your consumer unit is one of the most important components of your property’s electrical system, acting as the central hub that safely distributes electricity and protects every circuit from overloads, electrical faults and potential fire risks. As households continue to rely on more electrical appliances, home offices, smart technology, electric vehicle chargers and energy-efficient heating systems, older fuse boxes can become outdated and may no longer offer the level of protection required by current safety standards
Every consumer unit installation is completed using high-quality components and in full compliance with the latest BS 7671 (18th Edition) Wiring Regulations. Our installations include advanced safety features such as RCBO protection, Residual Current Devices (RCDs) and Surge Protection Devices (SPDs), helping to safeguard your family, employees, tenants and valuable electrical equipment.
What's Included
in every installation
- Removal of existing consumer unit
- Installation of new metal consumer unit

Our team of certified electricians specializes in the installation of fuse boxes that are tailored to your specific power needs. Whether you’re outfitting a new home, commercial property, or extension, Samsons Electrical Services will carefully assess your electrical load and recommend the right consumer unit for your space, ensuring safe and efficient power distribution.
New Fuse Box Installation: We install modern consumer units equipped with circuit breakers and residual current devices (RCDs) to enhance safety and performance.

Compliance with Electrical Regulations: All fuse box installations are carried out in full compliance with the latest UK electrical regulations, ensuring your property meets current safety standards.

Fuse Box Upgrades
If your property has an old or outdated fuse box, it may not be equipped to handle today’s electrical appliances and systems. Many older homes still rely on fuse boxes with traditional fuses, which are no longer considered safe or efficient. Upgrading to a modern consumer unit with circuit breakers and RCDs is essential to protect your property from electrical faults and ensure that your electrical system is future-proofed.
Enhanced Safety: Modern consumer units are equipped with RCDs and circuit breakers that provide superior protection against electrical faults, short circuits, and power surges.
Increased Electrical Capacity: An upgraded fuse box ensures that your electrical system can handle the increased demand of modern appliances, reducing the risk of overloads and power outages. Compliance with Modern Standards: Upgrading your fuse box brings your property’s electrical system up to code, ensuring compliance with the latest safety regulations.
Peace of Mind: A new fuse box provides added peace of mind, knowing that your electrical system is equipped with the latest safety features.

We had a problem with our smoke alarms. Called at the start of the week and he came 2 days later and fitted new modern alarms. He left the ceilings unmarked and made sure any dust etc was cleared up. The price we paid was the price quoted and he was cheerful and friendly. Very very happy and would definitely recommend.

They went all out to replace our shower unit at short notice as my daughter is disabled and relies on our wet room for her independence. Turned up initially to inspect the fault and knew exactly what it was and isolated the power on it to make it safe. Gave advice on the model of shower I had to buy to replace it and where to buy. Great workmanship and service and a good installation price. Really pleased and will definitely use again.

Great old fashioned service. Attended to a possible electrical fault in my Fathers apartment, but nothing found and reassured my Dad who’s 98 that all was fine but may be worth considering a new consumer unit in the not too distant future. Didn’t even charge for the call out but we will be booking Sonny to update the consumer board soon. Fantastic service, one of the good guys.
